Description
About the Class:
Daily routines can be challenging for children with special needs, leading to stress, frustration, and unwanted behaviors. But what if we could show them what success looks like?
In this workshop, Maryjane Sander, M.Ed., and Dr. Louise Debreczeny, Ed.D., will guide parents, educators, and paraeducators in using visual thinking strategies to support children in daily activities. Through drawing and writing, participants will learn how to create cartoon-based visual guides for morning and evening routines, helping children understand expectations and reduce frustration.
Participants will explore:
- How visual routines improve comprehension and reduce anxiety
- Simple ways to cartoon daily activities to support independence
- Strategies to help children develop pro-social behaviors in the home and classroom
Children want to succeed—they just need the right tools. Learn how to make routines clear, engaging, and accessible for all learners.
